"I am therefore leaving you for today, in the hope that I will be given another letter".

This is how Raymond Vinclair, 26 years old, finishes the mail he sends to his parents from a penitentiary on the outskirts of Berlin on June 22, 1944.
This last letter, written one month before his execution by the guillotine, says nothing about the death sentence of my grandfather's brother, nor about the important action of resistance to Nazism that he led in Germany.

 
For reasons that are still obscure, the tragic destiny of this great uncle of the Resistance has disappeared from the family's memory and it took an accident of fate to bring his story to the surface.
 
Accompanied by my German wife and our children, I embark, 75 years later, on a journey in search of the traces of this unknown grandfather and the causes of oblivion.
